Jon D. Valsangiacomo
Jon concentrates his practice in the areas of criminal defense and civil litigation, primarily personal injury cases, wrongful death, criminal misdemeanors and felonies, DUI/DWI, motor vehicle, administrative law, professional licensing, and Fish & Game cases. Jon is a member of the Bar of the State of Vermont and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Vermont.
Jon joined Valsangiacomo, Detora & McQuesten, P.C. in 2000. Since that time Jon has defended a broad range of criminal cases including DUI/DWI as well as major felony cases such as sexual assaults, aggravated assaults and violent felonies. Jon has also litigated cases involving, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, administrative law and professional licensing along with a general civil practice dealing with a wide range of issues for clients, both individuals and businesses.
Jon is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law (JD 2000) and Providence College (BA History 1993). Prior to attending law school Jon was a Lobbyist for the governmental and public relations firm of Kimbell, Sherman & Ellis (1994-1997). Jon was a staff intern for United States Senator Patrick Leahy in the Senator’s Washington DC office (1993).
Jon is a member of the Vermont Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Washington County Bar Association, and the Vermont Bar Association. In addition, Jon is the current Chair of the Barre Civic Center Committee, member of the Town of Barre Development Review Board, former Chair of the Barre Recreation Board, and former member of the Barre City Council.
Jon is a Vermont attorney who has effectively represented clients in the state courts in Vermont including the towns of Barre, Montpelier, Waterbury, Middlesex, Northfield, Chelsea, Williamstown, Randolph, Waitsfield, Warren, Stowe, Morrisville, Hyde Park, Burlington, South Burlington, Williston, Winooski, Colchester, Richmond, Bolton, St. Johnsbury, Lyndonville, Newport, White River, and Bradford.
Jon resides in Barre with his wife and two sons. In his free time Jon spends time with his family and he is an avid outdoorsman, hunter and sports enthusiast.
